Afterschool Tutoring

From early reading and arithmetic, through the increasing expectations of middle school, to Calculus and composing a thesis in high school; we cover it all. QTD instructors are well versed across the academic spectrum. They can seamlessly transition from working on an Algebra or Biology assignment to helping with a Literature or History project. No subject is a challenge for our instructors, that's including the Common Core.

Elementary School (Grade K-5)

These students are at the beginning of their educational experience, a time when basic skills are taught and reinforced. It’s also when their ideas about learning, and how they see themselves as students form. We are keenly aware of this.

While we are certainly trying to help them do well, our role is also to help them feel that learning can be fun, interactive, and exciting.

We cover everything from basic reading, writing, grammar, and arithmetic, to beginning to show them how to study and organize themselves.

Middle School (Grade 6-8)

This is a transitional period, with students moving beyond the basics. They are now preparing for the rigors of high school, which is just around the corner. This can be a challenging time and one in which they need support and guidance.

We have found that grades 6 thru 8 can be extremely challenging for some students. This is a great time to make sure their study skills, organization, and work habits are adequate for the next level.

These are the grades where some students find that merely paying attention and doing their homework doesn’t get the same results as it did in earlier years. The work is more challenging, more is expected, and they need to adapt to these changes or risk moving into high school at a deficit.

We support middle school students with tutoring in basic math, algebra, science, history, languages, and writing along with non-academics related lessons.

Students with Learning Challenges

Some students are faced with obstacles that can be more pronounced and challenging. In recent years, the term Special Needs has changed a great deal, as assessment tools have become more prominent and common. Consequently, this term now covers a large number of students, each with differing needs and background. Therefore, it’s helpful to define the students with these needs whom we serve at QTD. They include students who have or struggle with:

  • Mild to moderate ADD/ADHD
  • Language-based learning disabilities (reading)
  • Academic challenges that have resulted in an IEP
  • Behavioral issues

Often times, these students are faced with obstacles beyond academics and can benefit from a more specialized coaching approach. By creating a non-judgmental atmosphere, we can help confront intense learning challenges as well as other issues that can prevent students from learning, socializing, or at times even attending school.

High School (Grade 9-12)

This is another transition and one where the stakes are raised yet again. Grades start to matter in a more pronounced way now, as college looms.

It’s essential for high school students to understand that not all studying is created equal and that memorization and learning are two different things.

By helping students understand how homework and being attentive in class are connected, and what directed effort looks like, they can begin getting the results they are striving for. In addition, looking at their organization system, or lack thereof can also pay enormous dividends.

By helping high schoolers understand their process, we can show them how they can improve across all of their classes and utilize their strengths to solidify their weaknesses.

Again, QTD instructors have a breadth of knowledge that enables them to support students across all subject matter.

We assist students in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Literature, Writing, Languages, as well as their electives.

College Counseling

Taking a step toward college is an exciting time, but it can also be stressful and confusing. College Consulting can take some of that pressure off, as we help you:

  • Decide which colleges to consider and form a list.
  • Unravel the application process and Common App.
  • Prepare for the SAT.
  • Schedule campus visits.
  • Write the college essay.
  • Keep up with the deadlines and stay organized.

This can be a daunting process. We support you all the way through it.

Life Coaching For Teens and Young Adults

Life Coaching is beneficial for anyone who is:
